What is the Microsoft Sticky Notes App?

Sticky Notes is a note-taking app that comes with Windows 11. This app creates sticky notes with typed text, images, and recognized URLs. Choose from several customization options, such as seven different colors of sticky notes and a "Dark" mode for the app.



How to Open the Sticky Notes App With Search

  • Step 1: Go down to the taskbar and click Start (four blue squares).

The computer screen displays the Desktop. The cursor clicks the Start button (four blue squares) on the left side of the taskbar at the bottom of the screen.

  • Step 2: In the Start window click in the search bar at the top and type "sticky notes".

The cursor clicks inside the search bar at the top of the open Start window.

  • Step 3: On the results screen, click one of the following to open the Sticky Notes app:

-On the left side under "Best match", click "Sticky Notes App".

-On the right side click "Sticky Notes App".

-On the middle right side, click "Open".

In the search results window, a blue rectangle surrounds the “Sticky Notes App” on the left side under “Best Match”. A blue rectangle surrounds the “Sticky Notes App” on the right side and another blue rectangle surrounds the “Open” option on the right side.




How to Pin the Sticky Notes App to the Taskbar With Search

  • Step 1: Go down to the taskbar and click Start (four blue squares).

  • Step 2: In the Start window click in the search bar at the top and type "sticky notes".

 The cursor clicks inside the search bar at the top of the open Start window.

 

  • Step 3: On the results screen, go to the lower right side and click the down arrow.
At the bottom right of the results window, the cursor clicks the down arrow.

  • Step 4: After the menu expands with more options, click "Pin to taskbar".

In the lower right side of the results window, the cursor clicks "Pin to taskbar".

 

  • Step 5: Click the pinned Sticky Notes app icon on the taskbar, to open the Sticky Notes app.

The cursor clicks the pinned Sticky Notes app icon on the taskbar at the bottom of the computer screen.

 

 

How to Pin Sticky Notes App to the Taskbar With Right Click

The computer screen displays the opened Sticky Notes app. The cursor right clicks the Sticky Notes app on the taskbar at the bottom of the computer screen.

  • Step 2: In the menu that opens, click "Pin to taskbar".

A menu appears above the Sticky Notes app icon. In the menu, the cursor clicks "Pin to taskbar".
 

  • Step 3: Right click the pinned Sticky Notes app icon, and in the menu that opens, click "Sticky Notes" to open the app.

The computer screen displays the Desktop. A menu appears above the pinned Sticky Notes app icon in the taskbar at the bottom of the screen, and the cursor clicks the “Sticky Notes” option in the menu.

 

 

How to Pin Sticky Notes App to the Taskbar From Start

  • Step 1: Go down to the taskbar and click Start (four blue squares).

The cursor clicks inside the search bar at the top of the open Start window.


  • Step 2: In the Start window, right click the pinned Sticky Notes app icon, and in the menu that opens, click "Pin to taskbar".
In the Start window, the cursor right clicks the pinned Sticky Notes app icon and a menu appears. In that menu, the cursor clicks "Pin to taskbar".

How to Pin Sticky Notes App to Start

  • Step 1: Go down to the taskbar and click Start (four blue squares).

The computer screen displays the Desktop. The cursor clicks the Start button (four blue squares) on the left side of the taskbar at the bottom of the screen.


  • Step 2: In the Start window, click in the search bar at the top and type "sticky notes".

 The cursor clicks inside the search bar at the top of the open Start window.

 

  • Step 3: On the results screen, go to the lower right side and click the down arrow.

At the bottom right of the results window, the cursor clicks the down arrow.


 

  • Step 4: After the menu expands with more options, click "Pin to Start".

The cursor clicks "Pin to Start" on the lower right side of the search results window.

  •  Step 5: Click Start twice, and in the Start window that opens, click the pinned Sticky Notes app icon to open the app.

The cursor clicks the Start (four blue squares) button on the left side of the taskbar at the bottom of the screen. In the open Start window, the cursor clicks the pinned Sticky Notes app icon.




How to Open a Sticky Note With Double Click

How to Open a Sticky Note With Hover

The computer screen displays the open Notes list. On the taskbar at the bottom of the screen, the cursor hovers over the Sticky Notes app icon.

  • Step 2: Two windows appear (one is the Notes list and the other is the sticky note). Click the sticky note window to open the sticky note.

How to Open a Sticky Note With Right Click

  • Step 1: Open a sticky note. Type any text into the sticky note, and click anywhere in the Notes list.

How to Open a Sticky Note From the Notes List

  • Step 1: Open a sticky note. Type any text into the sticky note and click anywhere inside the Notes list.

  • Step 2: In the Notes list, go to the upper right of a sticky note and click the Menu or "..." button.

  • Step 3: In the menu that opens, click "Open note".

 How to Open the Notes List With Search

  • Step 1: Go down to the taskbar and click Start (four blue squares).

How to Open the Notes List With Hover

  • Step 1: Open the Sticky Notes app. Go down to the taskbar and hover the mouse over the Sticky Notes app icon.

 The computer screen displays the open Notes list. On the taskbar at the bottom of the screen, the cursor hovers over the Sticky Notes app icon.


  • Step 2: Two windows appear (one is the Notes list window and the other is the sticky note window). Click the Notes list window to open the Notes list.

How to Open the Notes List With Right Click

  • Step 2: In the menu that opens, click "Notes list".

 How to Open the Notes List From a Sticky Note

  • Step 1: Open a sticky note. Go to the upper right of the sticky note and click the Menu or "..." button.

In the upper right of the open sticky note window, the cursor clicks the Menu or "..." button.

  • Step 2: In the menu that opens, click "Notes list".

The cursor clicks the “Notes list” option in the menu that appears at the top of the open sticky note window.
